Computational Fluid Dynamics, Second Edition, provides an introduction to CFD fundamentals that focuses on the use of commercial CFD software to solve engineering problems. This new edition provides expanded coverage of CFD techniques including discretisation via finite element and spectral element as well as finite difference and finite volume methods and multigrid method. There is additional coverage of high-pressure fluid dynamics and meshless approach to provide a broader overview of the application areas where CFD can be used. The book combines an appropriate level of mathematical background, worked examples, computer screen shots, and step-by-step processes, walking students through modeling and computing as well as interpretation of CFD results. Multiscale modelling of lubrication flow during grinding
In this PhD project, the student will develop a lubrication model for the flow in the grinding zone. Due to the random position and protrusion of the abrasives from the theoretical wheel geometry, there is a thin zone of varying thickness, typically <100μm, across the width of the wheel where fluid is forced into the cutting zone to lubricate and cool the workpiece

Computational Fluid Dynamics: Principles and Applications
The objective of this book is to provide university students with a solid foundation for understanding the numerical methods employed in today’s CFD and to familiarise them with modern CFD codes by hands-on experience. It is also intended for engineers and scientists starting to work in the field of CFD or for those who apply CFD codes. Due to the detailed index, the text can serve as a reference handbook too.
Each chapter includes an extensive bibliography, which provides an excellent basis for further studies. (more…)
Computational Fluid Dynamics-The Basics With Applications
The Beginner’s guide to Computational Fluid Dynamics From aerospace design to applications in civil, mechanical, and chemical engineering, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is as essential as it is complex. The most accessible introduction of its kind, (more…)
What is CFD?
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is concerned with numerical solution of differential equations governing transport of mass, momentum, and energy in moving fluids.CFD activity emerged and gained prominence with availability of computers in the early 1960s. Today, CFD finds extensive usage in basic and applied research, in design of engineering equipment, and in calculation of environmental and geophysical phenomena. (more…)
